Pinocchio’s Children’s Nurseries have raised an incredible £100,000 for ECHC!
Pinocchio’s Children’s Nurseries, founded by Stratos and Lewissa Koulis, embarked on a fundraising journey in 2009 after an incident where a child became very unwell at nursery, and had to be rushed to the Sick Kids.
He received swift medical care, and made a full recovery. Witnessing how important it was for this boy and his family to receive support during a very difficult hospital stay, they pledged to raise £100,000 for Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity.
The staff at Pinocchio’s certainly put the “fun” in fundraising! They raised money with activities ranging from making their own recipe books to embarking on sponsored walks, culminating with their highly successful annual ‘Sponsored Easter Treasure Egg’.
With Pinocchio’s £5,000 annual donation and matched contributions from their nurseries, they have reached their target of £100,000 this year.
And they don’t intend to stop there – their commitment to fundraising for ECHC carries on, with summer and Christmas fairs on the horizon!
This milestone coincided with the 1 year anniversary of the opening of Pinocchio’s first Outdoor Classroom in their Heriot-Watt location, a beautiful space in the nearby woodlands where young children can start their journey to learning surrounded by nature, and where many of the fun activities take place.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Pinocchio’s Children’s Nurseries for generously giving their time and effort to fundraise for children in hospital. What a milestone this is – you are so amazing for all that you do for us. Thanks to you, children and families facing what could be the most difficult times in their lives can get the extra support they need.
