A Different Kind of Day

Welcome to ECHC's Get Together 2023!

Good evening and welcome to our annual ECHC Get Together. Every year, every day, every hour, we fundraise to give seriously ill babies, children and young people the support they deserve from the moment they begin their hospital journey. We could not do this without you.  

No child or young person wants to be in hospital, but for those who must be, ECHC is there to make the experience as positive as possible. And with your support, we can reach every child who needs us. 

Tonight we will showcase the surprising ways in which, for those who need to use the hospital, each day can bring new challenges, different medications, fresh worries, surprising friendships, incredible lows, and unexpected highs. There is much about life at the hospital that we want to reveal – this event will shine a new light on why the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, and Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity are so important in the lives of so many children, young people and families in our community.

We are enormously grateful to you for being here with us tonight. In celebration of the thousands of smiles and pounds you will raise, a huge thank you. I hope you have a wonderful evening and enjoy all that we have planned for you. Lot 1. 3 Nights at Old Milton for 16 with Golf Lesson for two & Catering by The Lunchbox Boys

Old Milton is a former shooting lodge renovated to a spectacular standard. Situated in the foothills of Scotland’s Cairngorms National Park, it is the perfect destination for action packed family gatherings, highland holidays with friends, or a launch pad for adventures into one of the most beautiful parts of the UK.

Lot 2. Edinburgh Tram Driving Experience with MD Lea Harrison & Dinner at Harvey Nicks for Six

This unique experience starts at the Edinburgh Tram Depot with a behind the scenes tour and Q&A with MD Lea Harrison, followed by a hands-on tram driving experience. After this, guests will take in some of the sights of our beautiful Capital before heading to Harvey Nichols Forth Floor for dinner.

Lot 3. Christmas Light Switch On at RHCYP with Afternoon Tea for 4 at Honeycomb

Enjoy a delicious afternoon tea at Honeycomb before joining ECHC, children and staff at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (RHCYP) to watch the switch on of this year’s magical Christmas tree. The chosen tree will be erected at the front entrance to the hospital and will be dressed in beautiful lights.

As the lucky bidder, you will enable a child in hospital to press the big red button and light up the tree for all see followed by a tour of the state-of-the art hospital by ECHC CEO, Roslyn Neely.

Lot 4. VIP Experience for 4 at The Stone of Destiny 2024 Perth Racecourse

This is the most popular race day of the season for racing fans and draws in a crowd of over 6,000 each year. On Saturday 17th August 2024, Perth Racecourse will be jumping and you and three friends could have a day to remember!

You will enjoy a three-course meal at your very own private table in the Galileo Restaurant with panoramic views of the course, a glass of fizz on arrival, race card and tipster talk.

You’ll get the chance to head down to judge the Best Turned Out Horse before watching the race from the Committee Box. And wait, there’s more… you will present the prize to the winning owner, trainer and jockey!

Lot 5. Ultimate East Coast Escape

This incredible prize is not one to be missed.

Enjoy two nights in one of Whitekirk Hill’s beautiful Telfer lodges. The 2-bedroom lodge is perfect for a family or friends trip. Chilled Prosecco and cheese platters will be in the lodge awaiting your arrival and brunch will be served both mornings in the Orangery. Each guest will be welcomed into their award-winning spa to experience an Elemis Couture Touch treatment, a lovely mix of massage and facial. Full access to the Leisure Club is also included.

Enjoy a delicious lunch provided by Jo’s Kitchen. Jo and her experienced team create delicious food using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

After your day of relaxing, enjoy a Beef Wellington & Wine Dinner, kindly donated by the Edinburgh Catering Company.

Lot 6. One Week Trip to Dubai for Six

We are very pleased to be able to offer a very special luxury Dubai stay donated by Mr Salah Mussa via a wonderful guest here tonight, Alison Cooper.

Six people could be spending seven nights in a luxury penthouse apartment in Downtown Dubai. The apartment is in a sought-after location adjacent to the Opera House and within walking distance of the Dubai Mall. It has stunning views over the Burj Khalida and the Dubai Fountain – the tallest performing fountain in the world!

The apartment has recently been completely redecorated by interior designer Rob Lessmann and features a full-length entertaining terrace and feature cinema wall. It has three double bedrooms and four bathrooms.
