The Hub

The Hub is our wellbeing centre within the hospital; a safe, non-clinical space where children, young people and families can take a break & spend time together away from the wards.

Located in the ground floor Family Support Corridor (next to The Pod, outpatients waiting area), The Hub offers holistic activities, therapies and information, as well as a space for playing, chatting and relaxing.

As with the Drop In Centre before it, our team is always there with a smile, a listening ear and a cup of tea (or hot chocolate!) on good days, bad days and everything else in between.

The Hub is packed with things to do, from arts and crafts, to video consoles and virtual reality; board games, toys and sensory play!

The space is designed therapeutically, and includes a kitchen, lounge, TV snug and play area.  There is also an outdoor courtyard and a complementary therapy room.

It doesn't feel like we're in hospital at all.

- Young person

We work with children and young people of any age; and also with siblings, parents and extended families.

Opening times: Monday to Friday, 10am-12pm and 1pm-4pm for drop-in sessions, or get in touch on extension 50367 or hub@echcharity.org to take part in our bookable activities.

Sometimes we will need to limit numbers due to hospital guidelines on infection control, but we will do our best and utilise the versatility of our space to try and ensure that no one misses out. We can also provide support through our Youth Work facility.

She's had such a big smile every time she's been. She's been asking all afternoon when we can come back!
