Thanks to our incredible and generous supporters and funders, we contributed over £3.1million to enrich the environment at Edinburgh children’s hospital.
Families coming to hospital are often stressed and nervous, and we know that our environment can have a profound effect on wellbeing and mood. Your donations allowed us to create a hospital reimagined, changing clinical spaces into wonderful worlds, fit for the most active imaginations.
Your support transformed the play, waiting, sitting and dining areas, treatment rooms, the Sanctuary, and CAMHS – creating bright and colourful spaces which are welcoming, put children at ease and make a hospital visit less scary.
There are pull-down beds at every bedside, so families and carers can sleep close by. Outdoor spaces have been boosted with planting and bespoke furniture, and navigating the hospital corridors is made even easier by quirky wall graphics and window vinyls.

Nowhere is this more spectacular than in The Pod – one of the greatest outpatient waiting spaces in the world! Here, you see Edinburgh like never before, with snoring dragons, rocket ships and sleeping giants. The more you look, the more you see, from the Scott Monument to the old Sick Kids.
Children and young people were consulted at every part of the design process, creating wonderful and unexpected features – buildings made of ice cream, story-telling benches and portholes to hidden worlds. Take a look and see what you can find!
An enormous thank you to William and Daniel Warren for their incredible designs, to Emily Hogarth Designs for the beautiful artwork and to Ginkgo Projects Ltd who made all of this possible.
