Horsing Around

Pony mad pals Flora and Coco, alongside their mums Virginia and Katie raised over £4500 for ECHC at a super successful Jolly Gymkhana!

Having both been through traumatic health experiences, friends Virginia and Katie were keen to give back to the hospital where their daughters Flora and Coco had received medical care and support.

Virginia’s daughter Flora was diagnosed with a form of epilepsy called Infantile Spasm Syndrome at just five months of age. Flora was having up to 100 seizures a day but thankfully, after being diagnosed and treated efficiently, her seizures have now stopped.

Katie’s daughter Coco was born with development dysplasia of the hips and referred to the Sick Kids when she was 11 weeks old. Since then, Coco has undergone four major operations and spent 36 weeks in full body casts.

Mum Virginia said: “During both girls’ hospital admissions, ECHC organised visits from therapy dogs, all manner of arts activities and offered a welcoming place for us to spend time together away from the ward environment.

“We are so grateful to the charity and wanted to do our bit to help support other families like ours.”

Thanks to the amazing medical treatment, hospital staff and support from our team, both girls are now healthy and happy – and horse mad! What better way to give back than by having some fun with their family, friends and trusty steeds too?
